The Help

Hello! November here, stealing Cat's lovely idea about a book review. Well-not quite a book review. Just...telling you about my latest book.

It's called "The Help". I'm sure that many of you have heard of this, because there was a movie released recently with the same title, based on the bestselling book by Kathryn Stockett. It is a book about a writer during the 1960s who "decides to write a book detailing the African American Maid's point of view on the White families they work for, and their hardships they go through on a day to day basis."

I'm not very far in, but it's great so far. I can't believe that Kathryn Stockett had to go through sixty rejections. Sure, rejections are part of getting published and fixing the writing up, but sixty? W-O-W.

I don't think it's going to be the kind of exciting book I normally like to engage in, with crazy trips to Iceland and long lost mythological gods, but it's a nice change. I'd recommend it to anyone, but it's very mild mannered. If you've no patience with mild mannered books, skip "The Help".

Random fact: J.K. Rowling went through twelve agents before getting Harry Potter published. Crazy, I know!
